About
Artist Statement
Lauren M. Wong explores emblems of fragility, resilience, and empowerment. She works in bold meticulous ink to capture intertwining relics of decay with representations of growth, and transformation.
Wong works in ink as acts of physical mark making to symbolize contending expectations as a matriarchal figure. Building layers of forms living, dead, and objects of symbolic power is her memento mori. These transformational forms symbolize the matriarchal armor she must build as a mother.
Wong is an Art Director currently residing in Seattle, WA. Her work has be exhibited in numerous galleries in the US and internationally. Notable galleries include, Helvella Art in Oakland, CA, Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin, GER, The Lab in San Francisco, CA, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Her work is in private collections across the world.
